>> GACKT FAN ARTICLES > 005

Let me start this by admitting that I was once a person who looked down on "fangirls", thinking they were lower creatures than I.
My definition of "fangirls" were the people who liked Gackt for more superficial reasons. Like him for his music? That's swell! Like him for his personality?
I'm fine with that! Like him solely for his looks? Oh no, that was not cool.
Why, you ask? Why did I think so negatively of these girls? You see, my friends, I've never been one to like talentless or tasteless things. When I get
interested in something, I cling to it like a starved animal and it's usually for good reason. I like Gackt because he has amazing talent as a musician and is a
very unique person. I enjoy reading interviews with Gackt because I believe he has an interesting way of viewing things. He has changed or broadened my viewpoint
on many subjects and I am forever grateful for that.
Even now, it peeves me when I see other fans who are interested in him simply because he has a pretty face. I realize that Gackt works hard to look as good
as he does, but there are many pretty faces in the world. To me, it's not what makes Gackt special.
Being a "true" fan, I completely ignored the "fangirls". I felt I was above squealing and drooling at Gackt pictures. I thought I was the better fan because
I liked Gackt for deeper reasons. Yes, I was a sneering, arrogant prick.
Recently, I've discovered the error of my ways. Nowadays, there are so many different types of fans that it could have it's own lexicon. In the end, does it
really matter? Some people like Gackt for his looks, heck, some people may like him for his eyebrows and I think that's great. Even if certain fans end up hating
him in a month, it was good while it lasted, wasn't it?
For whatever reason, we're all affected by Gackt in a positive way and we're all willing to support him. The more, the merrier. As long as Gackt doesn't mind
them, then I don't mind them. So, LOVE THY FELLOW FAN.
